Cocktail of the week: Suburban

This is one interesting piece of mixing.  There are cocktails that have rye in them, and those that have rum and even some with port. This one has all three. Surprising, but they come together quite nicely.  Drinking this makes me feel like I should be in a library, sitting in an enormous leather chair and reading a dusty tome. This is a good thing, by the way!

  • 1 1/2 ounces rye whisky
  • 1/2 ounce dark rum
  • 1/2 ounce port
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters

Combine all of these in a mixing vessel with ice and stir.  Stir, gentle reader, not shake. We do not wish to over dilute this one and there is nothing to emulsify. Strain into a cocktail glass, retire to your library or lounge and enjoy!

A votre sante!
