While the go-to spirit for the League is rum, I have found myself becoming more and more partial to Whiskey. Which explains today's cocktail, the Whiskey Sour.
- 2 oz Whiskey
- 1 oz Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 egg white (optional)
One may use whatever whiskey suits your fancy as the main ingredient. (However, should you choose an expensive, extensively aged, Scotch Whiskey I cannot be responsible for whatever fate befalls you when Scotland hears of it!). This week, I believe I will use Evan Williams Bourbon Whiskey.
You will notice that egg white is back! Mixes containing egg are just about my favorite cocktails for the character and mouthfeel they impart. Depending on who you ask, a whiskey sour with egg white can be called a "Boston Sour".
As you might surmise, one adds these components to an iced cocktail shaker, shakes them with enthusiasm and strains into a glass. You may use a cocktail glass, however I take mine on the rocks, in a rocks glass.
Skal!
